  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

I only notice really poor grammar and spelling if the native speakers do it in a really awkward way... It "communicates" something about them to me; but mostly I don't care and I know most are typos or little dyslectic mistakes anyway.

I am not a native speaker, so I can always pull out that card, hehehe...

Oh, @OP - if you make such a condescending thread it is wise to at least spell "grammar" correctly in the title.

It certainly does matter if one is applying for a job. It matters on the job. Right here, if I start reading a long post and encounter many errors of grammar and spelling, I assume the person has little or nothing to say of value, so I usually stop reading. This is particularly true if I start reading a story in the "Sex Story" section. Most of those stories are poorly written, even if written correctly. It takes little for me to decide that I am wasting my time with one.

We're in here, talking about grammar and spelling on the internet, not a job application.

I always take pains to write properly. I think others should too.

DL Just because you feel the need to be a pedantic twat, that doesn't mean that others must also, I try to use "proper" English when I can because that is how I was raised but not all have that upbringing, and even though I do use "improper" English at times (especially when colloquial language helps to reinforce purpose), I don't choose to write anyway because of what you or any others think.

    Edit: Well said Tenguy.

I enjoy drawing attention to errors in flame attacks directed against me. I have not found any in yours, however.

That is because I do not "pretend" to talk nor write like this, It is much easier to pick a flaw in a compounded lie, Isn't it?.

To whom, to whom!!! And maybe it would be more appropriate to use past tense - so:

    "To whom was that directed?"

Whom is used for object that revives an action, It has just become adapted to the everyday English language. Whom is a term of the utmost formality.
So to who was that flame truly directed.

    Are you sure?

It sounds more like another case of "the colonies" butchering the English language...

And it was merely a joke, I know that "who/whom" cause much confusion, so I seized the chance to fool around with it, nothing personal... ;)

The Internet appropriated English language and made a mockery out of it long ago, anyway. ;)

I have changed the quote as to properly explain its purpose, the use in resume was the practical purpose.

Edit: Arvin, I am yet to challenge nor side with you and as such I harbor no ill favor towards you, I judge people on character not on a singular event.

Internet forums expose one to bad writing. However, word processing systems make it easier to write properly.

I went through high school and college with a manual typewriter and a dictionary. I would usually look up any word with more than two or three syllables. With the spell checker in a word processing system, or even with Mozilla Firefox, which I am now using, misspelled words are underlined with red. One can right click on the word, choose the correct spelling, and left click on it.

Also, with word processing it is easier to make revisions. Sentences can be inserted in the middle of paragraphs. Sentences and paragraphs can be deleted, or moved from one location to another, and so on. Using a type writer resembled carving a statue from marble. If one made a mistake, one had to start over. Using word processing resembles molding a statue from soft clay. One can always remold the clay.

The internet also helps with spelling, and the correct choice of words. Using www.google.com one can type the word until one gets it right, and then look at the definition to see if it is the right word. When I compose a sentence in my head, occasionally a word I am not used to using will slide into it. With Google I can tell if it is being used appropriately.

That said, word processing was initially scary for me. For awhile I continued to feel more comfortable with a typewriter. Now, I would not want to go back.
